BARACK OBAMA'S FIRST HUNDRED DAYS

Day 37 - February 25,  2009

President Obama announced "compassionate rehabilitation" programs for the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., Samantha Power, and 141 other supporters and staff members who had to be dropped from his recent campaign.  "We believe in second chances here," the president said, saying the group would be sent to a kindness facility at Guantanamo.

The president rejected suggestions that the U.S. seal be changed, and that the eagle on it be seen clutching a hydrogen-powered car.  The rejection crushed Secretary of Melting Al Gore, who offered his resignation.  It was refused.

The president grimly said that the budget deficit for 2009 might make it impossible for the federal government to fund the Air Force.  "We have to cut things that aren't necessary," Mr. Obama said.

In keeping with the Obama family's decision to shield their children from publicity, the kids will only be allowed six appearances on Oprah this year.

The president announced that he's already received replies from European countries, after he asked them for more help in Afghanistan.  Belgium will send a box of chocolates, and Germany is volunteering three pairs of binoculars.  Mr. Obama said he's overwhelmed by this expression of generosity, and attributed it to his skill at diplomacy.

The White House announced that the president will now mobilize the world to fight global warming, poverty and general unhappiness, using his background as a community organizer in Chicago.  A presidential statement said the world must be organized "block by block."
