BARACK OBAMA'S FIRST HUNDRED DAYS

Day 47 - March 7,  2009

President Obama said he regrets the Russian takeover of Georgia, but that America must stay focused on global warming.  "Got to avoid these distractions," he said.

The president rejected suggestions that Russia is now a growing threat again, especially to Western Europe.  "As big a threat as melting ice?" he asked.  Secretary of Melting Al Gore stood by the president and applauded.

Mr. Obama said he's accepted a number of the suggestions made by former President Bill Clinton, but will reject one of them by not allowing Mr. Clinton to be president for a day.

At a brief press conference the president reiterated that an Iranian nuclear weapon was a threat to the world.  He said he'd deal with it by sending "our A-team," Jimmy Carter and George McGovern, to "confront the Iranians with love and peace."  When asked by a Fox reporter when love and peace ever defeated a dictatorship, Mr. Obama replied that he was a breakthrough guy who did things for the first time.

Michelle Obama announced the start of her "pride index."  Each morning she'll announce what part of America she's proud of that day.  She skipped today, saying she couldn't find anything.  But she's calling Rev. Wright for advice.
