BARACK OBAMA'S FIRST HUNDRED DAYS

Day 9 - January 28, 2009

President Obama tried to explain his 34th explanation of his stand on gun ownership, saying he thought individuals had a right to own guns, but not ammunition.  "Nothing in the Second Amendment about ammo," he said.  "If they wanted to talk about high-velocity rifle ammunition, they would have put it in," he went on.  The president said he had no problem with a new version of the iPod that goes "bang" when the owner pulls the trigger on his gun.  "That should scare the intruders," he said.

Mr. Obama said he felt "a certain responsibility" toward supporters who fainted dead away when he announced he'd chosen Ronald Reagan's desk to use in the Oval Office.

The White House said that the president was rushing FEMA forces to Minneapolis to fight the great flood.  When reporters noted there was no flooding in Minneapolis, a White House spokesman said the move was in response to Secretary of Melting Al Gore's prediction that there would be, "because where there's snow, there's a lot of melt."

The President said that he wasn't worried about the repeated incursions by Russian bombers into Alaskan air space.  "We can interpret it two ways - as a provocation, or as a friendly greeting," Mr. Obama said.  "I prefer the second."  When the room erupted in laughter, he angrily shot back, "Why do white people act that way?"

The Justice Department said it was studying a lawsuit filed by former Secretary of State Jimmah Carter, fired only after a few days on the job by President Obama, in which Carter claimed sex, age, race, and personality discrimination.  Justice said that Carter's "whiney, obnoxious and egotistical personality" made no difference to the president at all.

"What you see is news.  What you know is background.  What you feel is opinion."
