BARACK OBAMA'S FIRST HUNDRED DAYS Day 50 - March 10, 2009
At the halfway point in his first hundred days, President Obama asked Cabinet officers for their "brutal" assessment of his performance. The White House announced that that the assessments ranged from "awesome" through "inspired" to "cool." One Cabinet officer wrote anonymously that he or she was a secret Hillary supporter, and so thought that Obama was a predictable failure. Michelle Obama lamented that Chelsea should never have been appointed. The president said he had no problem with the Barack Obama calendar, but that the photo of him as Mr. July was obviously Photoshopped. "I'd never wear a purple bikini," he said. The president again protested the continued presence of Russian troops in Georgia. He threatened to escalate his protests to include denunciations of Moscow printed on Hewlett-Packard's best inket paper. The State Department said it would try to convene another Arab-Israeli peace conference "because we've already got the table and the room." For an archive of past days, please go here. |
