APRIL 20, 2009 BULVERDE, Texas (AP) -- Felix "Doc" Blanchard, the 1945 Heisman Trophy winner and Army's Mr. Inside in one of college football's most famous backfields, has died. He was 84. Blanchard's daughter, Mary Blanchard, told The Associated Press late Sunday night in a phone interview that her father died of pneumonia at home in Bulverde, a small town in central Texas, earlier in the day. For those of us of a certain age, he was one of the names we memorized as kids. Glenn Davis and Doc Blanchard were football legends in the days when "legend" meant something. Glenn Davis died four years ago.

So if I stare at a picture of Harry Reid, will that make me clumsy? In case you hadn't heard, from the New York Post: SO, you plunked down $2,625 for a ticket to yesterday's game at Yankee Stadium and then watched the Indians put up 14 runs in the second inning, the worst inning in Yankees history. Think of it this way. That's only $187.50 per run. What a bargain. The Indians won, 22-4. The Yankees have the fattest payroll in the majors. But, like Wall Street, paying "players" by the million doesn't always produce profits.
