DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co Chief Executive Alan Mulally's total compensation fell 37 percent to $13.6 million last year and he received no bonus -- but he won't have to fly commercial.

Heartbreaking.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is planning an online town hall-style meeting on the White House's Web site this Thursday.  The White House says Obama will answer questions about the economy and other topics at WhiteHouse.gov. Visitors to the Web site can determine what questions the president will answer.

Do you get the feeling that this president needs a written job description?  It's press conferences, appearances on Leno, speeches, online town-halls.  Will someone send him an e-mail, on his Blackberry, and tell him that the campaign is over, that he's got the job?  Now it's time to do the job.

From Britain's Telegraph:  Britain's most popular surnames: Singh and Patel catch up on Smith and Jones.  While Smith and Jones remain Britain's most popular surnames, new research has found that Asian names such as Zhang, Singh and Patel are rapidly catching up.

Maybe there won't always be an England.  Maybe Britistan.  The intellectuals will love it.

Major international note, from The Jerusalem Post:  Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney became a member of the Honorary Board of Advisers of the OneVoice Movement (OVM) on Monday, in an effort to show his support for moderation and conciliation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, aiming for an eventual two-state solution.  The musician, who said he was "happy to lend my support in this way to the cause of peace," was inspired to get involved with OVM after performing here in September.

Well, a Beatle has endorsed the two-state solution.  That's it.  Conflict over.  All you need is love.
