MIDDLESBROUGH, England, May 12 (UPI) -- A British undertaker has pleaded guilty to stealing the keys from a rival company's hearse while it was sitting outside of a funeral.
David Wood, 48, of Middlesbrough, England, admitted to stealing the keys from a 1968 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI owned by Joel D. Kerr funeral service moments before it was scheduled to transport a body from a funeral to the cemetery in September, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.

They hot-wired the Rolls and got the dearly beloved to her destination anyway.  But the Rolls clearly needs a better anti-theft system.

From AP:  ROCKFORD, Mich. -- David Buth is rewarding the tree-mendous fundraising efforts of his Michigan middle school students by spending 65 hours in a perch 40 feet above ground.  It's all part of a deal the part-time science teacher at Rockford Christian School made with the students, who earned and collected thousands of dollars for a trip this summer to Teton Science Schools in Jackson, Wyo.

There are dedicated teachers.  There really are.

ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) — A zoo in Australia was evacuated Sunday after an "ingenious" 137-pound orangutan short-circuited an electric fence and hopped a wall surrounding her enclosure.  The ape, a 27-year-old female named Karta, jammed a stick into wires connected to the fence and then piled up debris to climb a concrete and glass wall at the Adelaide Zoo.

Put her in charge of our borders.

Cultural news:   STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 11 (UPI) -- The online European Bombina Song Contest, which compares the songs of fire-bellied toads in European countries, was won by an amphibian choir in Sweden.  Sweden's toads won 70 percent of the votes in the contest, beating out toads singing in their natural habitats in Lithuania, Germany and Denmark, Swedish news agency TT reported Monday.

And I though Denmark was a shoo-in.  I guess I have to learn more about this.
