SEPTEMBER 16, 2009 SHREVEPORT, La., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Police in Louisiana said a man who attempted a traffic stop while impersonating an officer pulled over the mayor of his town. Investigators said Daniel Niederhelman, 21, used a red light mounted on his dashboard to pull over a car Monday, but got back into his Chevy Monte Carlo and drove away when he recognized the driver of the vehicle as Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover, the Shreveport Times reported Tuesday. I'd like to hear the story this guy tells the judge: "Look, your honor, I was emotionally damaged by Hurricane Katrina, so blame BUSH (!!).
SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 PARIS (Reuters) - A drunk French teenager narrowly escaped death on Sunday after falling asleep on a railway track and slumbering undisturbed as a high-speed train roared over him, police said. The 19-year old, whose name was not released, remained fast asleep face down on a stretch of track near Saint Nolff in southern Brittany, as the Quimper to Paris train passed, leaving only a few grease stains on the back of his jacket. If he were in the U.S., he could sue the railroad for waking him up, and get a book contract out of it.
