SEPTEMBER 18, 2009 From The New York Post: No vacancy! The New York Helmsley Hotel last night abruptly canceled a long-planned banquet for next week after finding out that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was scheduled to attend and speak, The Post has learned. Helmsley representatives told Ahmadinejad to beat it after being informed by the security group United Against Nuclear Iran that the Israel-hating, Holocaust-denying America basher was going to be in the house next Thursday. You can be sure the White House travel office is on the case, and that Mahmoud will have comfy accommodations somewhere else. There are, after all, any number of university clubs in New York that would probably consider it chic to have him.
SEPTEMBER 17, 2009 HALIFAX, England, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- A man who followed bad directions from his satellite navigation device and got his car stuck on a 100-foot-high cliff was fined $1,470 by a British court. The Calderdale Magistrates Court in Halifax, England, was told Robert Jones, 43, was driving in the nearby town of Todmorden March 22 when his TomTom navigation system instructed him to drive down a dirt path leading to the cliff, The Sun reported Wednesday. Sounds like American Democrats. They're following bad directions, and are heading for a cliff.
