FEBRUARY 22, 2010 Commercial news, from the New York Post: Alexa Ray Joel is the new face of Prell shampoo nearly 25 years after her model mother, Christie Brinkley, starred in ads for the hair product. The singer-songwriter has signed a deal to appear in print and TV ads for Prell while her music will provide the soundtrack, she confirmed to Page Six. Alexa, 24, said, "I am so excited and honored to be named the new face of Prell -- especially following in the footsteps of my mother, who was a Prell girl." Please don't get her confused with John Edwards, who reminded a number of people of the Breck girl.
FEBRUARY 21, 2010 SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) - The state Department of Public Health is investigating an incident at a food supplier kitchen that left glass fragments in a batch of chicken noodle soup. The soup went to several customers of FoodService Partners Inc., including Kaiser Permanente hospitals in Northern California. The old Vaudeville joke was: Don't tell anyone about this. Then everyone will want extra glass.
FEBRUARY 20, 2010 JIZAN, Saudi Arabia, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A Saudi Arabian court handed down a 120-lash sentence to a man who was simultaneously married to six women -- two more than the legal limit. The man, whose name was not released, told the Jizan province court he did not know he was violating Shariah, Islamic law, by having more than four wives at the same time, the BBC reported Friday. But who are we to question other cultures? Yuch.
FEBRUARY 19, 2010 NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - Cleveland has won the dubious distinction of being the most miserable city in the United States, according to a new poll. The Ohio city on the Cuyahoga River has high unemployment, dismal weather, hefty taxes, corruption and mediocre sports teams, all of which have propelled it to the No 1 position in the Forbes.com list. Dennis Kucinich was mayor. What do you expect?
FEBRUARY 18, 2010 UNION, Ohio, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- An Ohio high school junior has been thwarted in her ambition to run for Republican precinct representative in Clermont County. The Ohio secretary of state sent an e-mail message a few minutes after Emma Breyer, 17, filed her candidacy Tuesday with the county board of elections, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The decision was that she was too young to run in the May 4 primary. She had been told earlier she was eligible to run since she turns 18 in October, before the Nov. 2 election. Silver lining: I'm just glad we have Republicans that young.
FEBRUARY 17, 2010 DENVER (AP) - This Robin Hood is accused of stealing - and not to give to the poor. Authorities said a 34-year-old named Robin Joshua Hood found someone's wallet in downtown Denver and apparently began using the man's name in a ploy to avoid being caught on a warrant. Hood told investigators he was being investigated for drug charges. What kind of a parent would do that to a kid? They could have named him Charlie.
FEBRUARY 16, 2010 CAMBRIDGE, England, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Doctors said the case of a British baby who learned to walk unaided at just six months is "extremely uncommon." No, not uncommon at all. We have babies in America determined to walk at six months just so they can walk out of the Democratic Party.
