JULY 1, 2010 (Reuters) - Eight percent of Russians believe their national team will win the World Cup, despite the fact that it never qualified for the tournament, an independent poll has showed. At least they have team spirit.
JUNE 30, 2010 BALTIMORE, June 29 (UPI) -- Officials at a Baltimore museum dedicated to Babe Ruth said they are searching for the owner of a $500,000 rookie card loaned to the facility in June 1998.Mike Gibbons, executive director of the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum, said officials had no idea the 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth rookie card was so valuable when Richard Davis loaned it to the collection 12 years ago and they recently decided to create a special exhibit around the card when Forbes magazine revealed its worth as $500,000, the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday. Now that is a story. I hope they find the guy. The museum is acting decently.
JUNE 29, 2010 (June28) -- A popular Mexican musician famed for singing about the exploits of drug dealers was shot dead just hours after he gave a interview denying reports that he'd been murdered. Well, he'll just have to correct it.
JUNE 28, 2010 From AP: DYERSBURG, Tenn. – Police arrested a man who fell asleep after breaking into a home. The Dyersburg State Gazette reported that residents returned home and found the 22-year-old man asleep on the couch. Another example of low standards. There used to be a time when every thief knew to get a good night's sleep before going to work. There's just no mentoring anymore.
JUNE 27, 2010 YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Authorities said a drunken man and woman were arrested after they were found pushing a baby stroller holding two young boys, open containers of alcohol and a bayonet inside. Police said in a statement that the 30-year-old woman and 52-year-old man were arrested after police were called about 1:30 a.m. Friday when the woman tried to take a bike off a porch. Silly. Don't the police know that all quality baby strollers come equipped with bayonets these days?
JUNE 26, 2010 ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - A former priest and anger-management counselor who pulled a gun in a traffic dispute on two men who happened to be U.S. Marshals has been sentenced to a year in prison. Fifty-seven-year-old Jose Luis Avila of Annandale pleaded guilty earlier this year in U.S. District Court to assaulting a federal officer. These anger-management guys, they get so emotional. And they have such bad luck in choosing victims.
