LAKE MARY, Fla., May 11 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a suspicious package found outside a church and detonated by a bomb squad turned out to contain more than $2,500 in cash.  The Seminole County Sheriff's Office bomb squad said a member of Master's Touch International Church, near Lake Mary, found a 40-pound cardboard box outside of the facility at 11 a.m. Saturday and brought it to a nearby fire station, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported.

That's what they mean by "blowing a fortune."

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities in Ohio said a woman tried to rob a bank with a note and then attempted to eat it once she saw a uniformed officer in line behind her. FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas said the woman wearing sunglasses handed the teller the note at a Columbus Chase bank branch Wednesday morning.

Might have checked for the uniformed officer before she attempted the holdup.  Easier than eating paper.  Poor training.

ORLANDO, Fla., May 9 (UPI) -- Florida gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink probably won't be invited back as commencement speaker after getting the University of Central Florida's name wrong.  Graduates interrupted her address with boos and groans Saturday afternoon after Sink, a Democrat, called the University of Central Florida -- "USF" -- at least twice during her remarks. USF are initials of the University of South Florida, which is in Tampa, while Sink was speaking at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

She is Florida's chief financial officer.  I wonder how she does with numbers.

From AP:  CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez is tops on Twitter in Venezuela less than 2 weeks after launching his account, surpassing Internet-savvy foes who dominate the social networking site and use it to oppose him.  Chavez's account, "chavezcandanga," had racked up more than 237,000 followers as of Saturday morning — besting the 234,000 who receive tweets from Globovision, the only TV channel that remains critical of the socialist leader.

Story goes on to point out that many of the messages Chavez receives are critical.

(Reuters) - Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said Tuesday.

In some parts of the world they call this the "new technology."

BOCA RATON, Fla., May 6 (UPI) -- A 14-year-old Florida girl was arrested after she allegedly stole a car at a gas station pump, and ordered the 12-year-old girl inside to get out, police said.

Who said our kids aren't as advanced as kids of other nations?  Why, they're right up there, sharpening their career skills at an early age.
