POLL STUNNER – AT 9:59 A.M. ET:  And not in a happy way.  Missouri was considered a sure thing for Mitt Romney.  Then came goofball Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin with his crazy remarks about rape.  Even though Mitt Romney denounced Akin immediately, the damage has apparently been done.  From Rasmussen:

As the controversy over Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” comment continues, Mitt Romney’s lead in Missouri has vanished.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Missouri Voters finds President Obama with 47% support to Romney’s 46%. Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) more are undecided.

COMMENT:  While I think Romney can retake the lead, the sheer revulsion toward Akin continues.  The man must be shunned completely.  He is toxic.  He has got to be politically decapitated, preferably in public.

Rasmussen's presidential preference poll for today, by the way, has Romney up by one, 46-45.  Increasingly, national polls are aligning and showing a very tight race, with Romney having made some gains in recent weeks.  It is estimated that the Obama campaign spent upwards of $120-million for anti-Romney ads in the summer months, to little effect.
